Digital Photograph
This is a truly international piece of artwork. The photograph is made up four different photos carefully layered together:
The first image of the bamboo and foliage was taken in Chicago back in January 2019 when the Polar Vortex came to town and the temperature was -25 c. It’s a piece of street art underneath a disused railway bridge. I was standing in over 12 inches of snow and unsurprisingly the area was deserted apart from myself and the camera.
The second photograph was of some wonderfully textured peeling paintwork taken in Malaysia. This gives the artwork it’s rich green and yellow colour.
The third image of some rusty old tin which adds some very faint texture and the dash of red. This was taken in Jakarta back in 2018.
The final photo was taken in the UK and is of swirling limestone strata. This created the subtle wave pattern in the final artwork.
Individually the four photos are fairly ordinary but combined they have created what I think is a stunning photograph with tremendous depth and feeling.
